Really enjoyed listening to your Blog Viola. It is really personal and very clear. I loved how you linked in your personal experience ie that you have made mistakes and you want people to learn from these etc. Really clear on what you need to do to get your ebook.
    Thanks for sharing Viola

    • Viola Tam says:

      Dear Fiona,

Thank you for taking the time to tour my blog. I appreciate your feedback. I hope you have went on to vote me for the Top 50 Blogs Contest too πŸ™‚

I have benefited a lot from other successful leaders’ sharing their own journeys TO success. What inspires me to keep sharing my experience is to seeing others start to realize that their terrible beginning may not be totally their fault at all. Many network marketers are simply not shown the professional (and easy) way to do network marketing. Doing it wrong. Energy draining. Doing it right. Energizes!

Wow! I love it. You have just given me some awesome ideas even from this short video that I want to start implementing right away. Your right though, it’s easy to get lost in Network Marketing, and it easy once you know how to make it through the maze. It’s so simple once it becomes clear.

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Brian,

I am glad that you find it helpful and have decided to implement ideas that you have picked up πŸ™‚

  3. Margarita says:

    Viola, great video!

I want to start adding video to my posts and write a little less. It takes a great amount of time. English is my second language, so you can imagine.

I have been starting many times with Internet Marketing. Then quitting because of the huge amount of confusion and overwhelm. Now I have been keeping up for 9 months. Made many mistakes (like you – I think that this is good), learned a lot and accomplished a lot.

    Thanks for the great post!

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Margarita,

I am happy to hear that you have come back and is doing great after so much confusion, overwhelm, starting and quitting! There was always a reason to quit. I am pleased to see that you had ANOTHER reason to re-start! Look at your blog now. You are doing great!

To be successful, in business or life, we need ONE great reason. Many leaders call this our ‘Why?’. When this ‘Why/’ is strong enough, no obstacle is able to stop us! English as a second language? You can hear that I have an accent too. One of the most amazing great leaders in my Network Marketing company is French. She came to Australia with very little English and just a few friends. She still speaks with an accent. That does not stop her from connecting with others and blessing others about what is possible in life using the Network Marketing as the platform.

Go for your video! Make things happen! That is what all leaders do, Margarita!

Have a Most Rewarding Year in 2013!

    Hi Viola

Great video and I really enjoyed it. You have been very clear in sharing your experience and specially your advice that no one can trust corporate jobs as downsizing is rampant. We need to start on our own.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Sapna

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Sapna,

      Thank you for sharing, Sapna.

While I was not from a corporate background, I do know a number of successful business women who were ‘forced’ into starting up their own small businesses.

My strong message to others is that – get a Plan B NOW. Invest some of the spare time wisely for a better future. New graduates, more experienced employees, retirees, housewives…. All can benefit from having a nice second source of income. This move can be a great stress-buffer πŸ™‚

You explained everything very clearly and professionally, yet in a way that each one of us could understand perfectly well. Being a Mom and working is not an easy task- ask me!

Though I am not into Network Marketing, but I would definitely be sharing this post with my friend’s who are into it and may like the eBook you are offering. I guess it would be full of wonderful gems, especially the mistakes that they shouldn’t commit – just as you mentioned.

WOW, you are really amazing and you just expressed yourself and your experience with Network Marketing very openly and honestly. I can see that you are speaking from the heart.

Thanks for sharing your experience and what you have learned to help others avoid mistakes and shorten their learning curve.

I Appreciate your advice to all of us moms and for sharing your e-book to encourage us.

Be Blessed and wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year,

    Neamat

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Neamat,

I appreciate your kind words πŸ™‚ One obvious advantage of being in Network Marketing is that we have to focus a lot on personal development before we can arrive at a stage when we are embodying the business in us. I owe my success today to many network marketing trainers. Many battled their way to success. This is why I know learning from others’ mistakes works!

A typical example is Jeffrey Combs who struggled for 14 years as a drug and alcohol addict before he eventually broke through to real success! He became totally detached to the outcome, extremely skilled in his use of language and selecting process to bring in ‘good quality’ people into his team. How did he do that? He himself became the leader first! The BE-DO-HAVE sequence…..The desire for him to assist others to walk an easier path can be felt in his ‘More Heart Than Talents’ Series. He is absolutely right! ANYONE can succeed in this business when the heart (desire) is there!

Feel free to share this site with other moms as you read blog articles that may be of help to them.

      Hey Ryan, my buddy!

I appreciate you! What an encouraging comment from you!

I admire Ray Higdon’s commitment to daily blogging. I can feel that blogging is his way of giving back to the Network Marketing community. I can imagine his pain of being in so many opportunities without succeeding in the past. Maybe he was TRYING too hard in those 7 years then??
I love your idea of letting go! You are also one of the most committed and RELAXED bloggers that I have seen. What you have been sharing consistently is simply amazing! Your message is loud and clear – Give. Give. Give. No agenda, Just give.

Keep spreading your positive energy through your blog and videos too, Ryan πŸ™‚

      Hi Donna,

I appreciate your kind words. You are absolutely right about many people coming into Network Marketing without knowing what it entails. Like many others leaders who have helped me to come to where I am now, I feel almost obliged to tell my story!

I will opt-in for your book even though I’m not in network marketing. I’m sure I can learn something.

I love your video Viola, so professional.

Gosh, there are so many people that need your guidance and support. I know that like you, I stumbled too many times before finally getting all the information I needed along with the support. You definitely need people on your side who have your best interests at heart. I know that you are that person for a lot of people and I have no doubt that your book is the answer to their prayers.

Wonderful presentation and thanks for creating this blueprint. I know it will help so many people.

    Happy New Year!

    ~Adrienne

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Adrienne,

I am glad that my message is loud and clear. I believe no successful leaders with a heart would want to keep their success secrets to themselves.

This is particularly so in the Network Marketing Profession. Personal development IS THE SECRET for success in this profession. I am blessed to have gone through the process and now in a position to help others to experience that magical journey of growth and transformation. It is this growth in our consciousness, skills, relationships and leadership that become the ingredients for success.

I admire the infamous Network Marketing trainer Tim Sales a lot. His remark is indeed insightful – that new distributors would have already had what they want in life IF they are already doing network marketing the right way! Put it simply, new distributors NEED a great teacher to help them to grow into a leader. It is the sharing of wisdom, teamwork, developing new leaders and pursuing personal potential that make this MLM industry so attractive.

There are many ‘second generation’ potential leaders in my primary Network Marketing company because many of the leaders’ children are now adults. Adult children from non-Network Marketing families deserve to know that success is predictable too. They have to be educated about the pitfalls so that they can avoid them!

I do appreciate your kind words, Adrienne.

    Hi Viola,

This is a great video – you come across very well. I’m not looking to go into network marketing at the moment, but would like to learn more about it, so will certainly download your eBook to increase my knowledge – I think it’s great that you’re helping people to avoid common traps and mistakes, that’s an excellent approach to take.

All good wishes for 2013 – I hope it’s a great year for you!

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Sue,

My ‘clever writer’ friend! Glad to have you here!

I am glad to hear that you are open to explore more. I would argue that this is one of the most frowned upon industries because of SOME network marketers are not doing it professionally. Sadly, that often wasn’t even the distributor’s own fault.

I believe that my e-Book can give hope and light to those people who have been burned in Network Marketing before. For readers who do not know much about this up-rising profession, my aim is to educate them that ‘There is a Better Way’ – a tag line made famous by the visionary Network Marketing Pro, Eric Worre. He have contributed a lot to this profession. Click here to his amazing online library if you are keen to explore more, Sue.

Thank you for your kind words. I’d love to hear comments from a non-network marketer πŸ™‚

    Hi Viola,

I’m new to your blog and I must say, I love it!

What an awesome video you made, so professional and informative. I’ll definitely be signing up for your new book. There are so many confused people out there trying to make it in network marketing and only gaining debt and lost time. I know you are going to help so many people by offering your help!

    Thank you for that!

    Jess

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hey Jess,

I am glad that you like the video and can relate to my point. Indeed there are many confused network marketers. There is not a shadow of doubt that those who are hugely successful in Network Marketing are able to live a blissful life. Why then that there are so many who are left struggling? Why is it that so many ended up leaving the playing field altogether? Worse still, why so many ex-network marketers got so burned that they are forever blocked in receiving new information? It is a shame!

It is my passion to educate and empower. For those who have never been in this profession, at least they can have a clearer view about what does it entail to be successful.

I appreciate your comment. Feel free to visit again, Jess.

  14. Listening to your blog and taking notes on it is like listening to my Economics professor’s lecture back in college. Very engaging, clever, and most of all, very easy to understand. You are helping a lot of people with your video and business blog Viola, keep it up. I’ll be staying tuned in to your future posts!

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Kristine,

Thank you for your compliments! What an honor! I do have a university degree, but not in Economics! I am certainly not a professor either. What I do know is that for anyone to excel in anything, Awareness is the first step. Once a person has decided on a path, he or she needs to learn the skills and knowledge in that specific area. To be on a smooth journey, they need to avoid the common pitfalls. This is why I take pride in my years of experience in Network Marketing. I learned to perform by being ‘in the game’. I am not a guru but can certainly help others in setting their mind and feet in the right path for success.

You remark reminded me about my late father’s motto: Our Society is a great University where we can learn a lot of skills for Success in Life.

I look forward to your insights, Kristine.

  20. Sue Price says:

    Hi Viola

I so loved this video and seeing you. It is a great video and I am with you. I also hated leaving my daughter at day care.

I think to help people navigate the network marketing maze is so important. Most people do not really understand what network marketing is about. and there is still a stigma for many people.

Viola I hope you are going to do more videos. I loved this.

    Sue

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Sue,

Thank you for sharing your hating to drop off your daughter story. I know it is quite a common feeling for many mothers, especially if they have a job that they are not that passionate about.

I am glad that you got to *meet* me this way. It is a shame that it is not a two-way engagement. I can’t remember in which parts of Australia are you in. Maybe we would meet one day!

I have this welcome video outsourced. I am happy that many people seem to like it (although I was too nervous). I have also recorded another 12 very short videos that will be released shortly. I need to talk to the video producer to see when this can be rolled out.

Are you planning to do any videos? I believe it is a great way to connect with others. Apparently, Google loves videos too. Some of your blog followers and other online friends may want to *meet* you as well.

Have a great day, Sue πŸ™‚

  21. Wow.. I really appreciate the video Viola.
This could indeed help me towards my life to success.
I hope I could also learn many things from other leaders.

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Dourgi.

You started thinking seriously about what you wanted to do with your life at 18! WOW, you are rare. I congratulate you on the forward thinking and taking responsibility of your own future! You have shared some great insights in your blog!

Life isn’t cheap! so true! It is a real shame that there are adults kids who are ‘stuck’ in their baby boomer parent’s home. This often have little to do with themselves though! We have heard stories after stories that it is not easy for a young graduate to find a job! One of the theories suggested by my 25-year old daughter is that many baby boomers cannot afford to retire themselves! Life isn’t cheap. You are spot on!

The lesson? Whether we are straight from university or counting down the days to retire, the wise thing to do is to have an additional stream of PASSIVE income. This means that even if one’s job is lost, there is a safety net. For retirees, there is a supplementary income so that the original lifestyle need not be compromised. For stay-at-home mums, it can be a wonderful source of a number of things – extra money for children’s education, a yearly family vacation, a circle of friendship, a sense of accomplishment outside the home, contribution to the world on a large scale, etc.

  22. Max says:

    Viola, nice video!
Actually writing posts is not as useful as recording a video.
I want to ask you one single question. What is the main instrument of internet marketing is the most powerful nowadays?

Thanks for your answer in advance. Max.

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Max,

I appreciate your comment. The main reason for me to do video is that I want my readers to know that I am a real person, not a robot. I believe human beings connect the best in real life face-to-face engagement. Video, I believe is only the second best. Given that the YouTube is growing so fast, I will be introducing more videos too πŸ™‚ Having said that, text and audios still have their place.

      Viola The Business Mum

  23. Max says:

I have one more question. Do you think that role of Social Media in marketing will be strengthened? If not may you briefly give some arguments? Thanks a lot!

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Max,

As I mentioned in my previous reply, I trust that Social Media marketing has great potential. Whether the engagement is in video, audio or test, it is the connecting and engagement that matter. I am not an internet expert but can certainly see the power of the hangout groups in Google+.

Much of the real life ‘Know-Like-Trust’ for business growth still applies online πŸ™‚ Social media allow us to interact across the globe, via multiple platforms and channels. Awesome!

  25. Viola,

That’s an outstanding video! Very nicely done. Your guide seems like just the thing for new network marketers! Thanks for taking the time to put it together. It shows that you truly have other people’s best interest at heart, and that’s so important in this day and age.

And you’re absolutely right, corporate security is a thing of the past. People need to take responsibility for their future and the best way for most people to do that is with a home-based business. You cover that perfectly.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences! It’s truly appreciated.

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Barry,

I appreciate your visit and comment. Yes, my e-Book is about guiding is a survival guide for new network marketers. Less experienced network marketers may find themselves spinning the wheels with zero sign up. Or, with a team that is stagnant.
I have learned to do well the hard way. Others can leverage on my learning journey.

I would argue that this is a great resource for anyone who might have been ‘burnt’ by the previous network marketing journey. They may be able to relate to my journey and identify where the issue was. To be successful in network marketing, one needs to be aware of the traps. Do the right steps. Get the anticipated result. Period.

    Very good video Viola,

I have dabbled into network marketing a little and it is very overwhelming. I look forward to looking through your sight some more and hopefully getting some insight on what to do instead of what not to do.

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Josh,

It is understandable that you found network marketing overwhelming. I can certainly appreciate that you would like to explore what needed to be done (correctly) in order to do well in Network Marketing. My general advice is to fully understand the Network Marketing concept. Then, view this marketing model as the best way to serve others as it is strongly based on relationship building. We do have to put the focus 100% on our prospective clients or business partners. Skills needed to be get great at are (initially) listening and asking relevant and quality questions. ‘Closing’ for the sale is simply a natural progression of what we have done right. As your team grows, the leadership skill needed to grow too.

Feel free to go through some of my older blog posts. You will be able to pick up a lot of ‘to-do’ success tips there! Request for the free consultation if you feel that may help you move forward.

I am glad that you have found my blog. I trust that your daughter can ‘leverage’ on my journey and succeed faster! My suggestion is for her to get the mindset right first! How? Get back to the team support system and mentor. Hopefully, all those are in place. IF not, she would have to find generic sites to support her Success Journey. Keep learning and improving. Never give up!

Are you also in network marketing, Angela?

Perhaps your daughter can pay a visit here herself? I am more than happy to connect with her here or via the free consultation service that I offer.

      • My niche is graphic design & social media. I am doing the “affiliate marketing.” I’ve been blogging only for 2 1/2 months. and so I’m still very new. just trying to INCREASE my traffic and get QUALITY network relationship.

          Hi Angela,

I have been blogging for a relative short time only. My experience is that visiting other bloggers’ sites and contribute our own ideas and insight that is relevant to the particular blog post works best. That is, give value to the readers. Another great way to give value is to share at social medium forums. This takes time though. All relationship building takes time, would you agree?

Wishing you an amazing blogging journey, Angela!

I have been sharing a very nice wish you continued success. YazlΔ±k Daire

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Yazlik,

Thank you so much for your wish. For me, any of my team members making a firm decision to ‘stay in the game’ is a success. Success is a journey that one decides to take on. Most people are happy sitting in front of the television for hours in a week. However, some are determined and willing to invest those same hours for their own goals and dreams.

Others’ lives can be improved by having a meaningful life – achieving the goals and dreams that mean most to them! I am grateful that I can play a part in helping others to make informed decisions.

      Thanks, Yazlik!

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Taniya,

I appreciate your kind comments. This means a lot to me.

I truly believe that most people do not really understand how network marketing works. Sadly, it is the erroneous perception that is usually stopping people from embarking on a potentially life changing journey! For some people, this can even stop them from just exploring – to see how this industry has evolved in the past decades. Industry leaders Tim Sales, Eric Worre and Ray Higdon, in particular, have contributed to the wave of professionalism in network marketing.

Of all the Network Marketing books that I have read, I like Mark Yarnell’s “Your First Year in Network Marketing” most. I have however not read his more recent book ” How to become Filthy, Stinking Rich Through Network Marketing – Without Alienating Friends & Relatives”. I trust that it should be a valuable resource too.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing. I hope to *see* you somewhere in my blog comments area πŸ™‚

  40. That’s nice video Voila.

There was tear in my eyes after 0.42 seconds to listen the problems faced by today’s moms who really do hard for their home and children. And I really love it what you are doing for those moms to give a side support to their life.

    Thanks for the EBook…

    • Viola Tam says:

      Hi Atul,

Thanks for sharing! I am glad to hear that you have this realization. I still remember the days when our kids were young and that I had to be back to Hong Kong. My husband then realized how much hard work was involved in being a stay-at-home dad. For children, they prefer to have parents who are really there for them, not a parent (mum or dad) who is always running around the house doing tasks. Nor do they want to be having the TV or computer as their best companion!

With extra money coming into the family, some less important tasks (or chores) can be outsourced.

Thanks for your stopping by and sharing, Atul.
